The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix just wrapped up, and what a wild rollercoaster of thrills and high-speed drama this weekend has been! Max Verstappen, the Dutch dynamo, emerged victorious in a nail-biting race that kept us all on the edge of our seats, beating both Leclerc and Perez to victory.

Verstappen vs. Leclerc: A Thrilling Tussle

The race kicked off with Verstappen making a controversial move on Charles Leclerc at Turn 1 to seize the lead. Leclerc, not one to back down, fought back and retook the lead later in the race.

Amidst the chaos, Sergio Perez had to pit under the Virtual Safety Car, throwing a wrench into Red Bull’s plans. However, a later Safety Car bunched up the field, setting the stage for a Red Bull resurgence.

Verstappen faced a five-second time penalty for his earlier tussle with Leclerc, but that didn’t deter him. Falling as low as 11th after a pit stop, he then engaged in a heart-stopping battle with George Russell, resulting in front-wing damage. The debris from their encounter triggered yet another Safety Car, adding more heat to an already intense race.

Red Bull took a strategic gamble, pitting both drivers, while Ferrari opted to keep Leclerc out. The closing stages turned into a Red Bull vs. Leclerc showdown, with Perez initially leading the charge. But Verstappen, like a speeding bullet, hunted down and passed Leclerc for the lead.

Perez’s Podium Finish and Red Bull’s Historic 1-2

Despite the setbacks, Red Bull managed a spectacular 1-2 finish, with Verstappen leading the charge and Perez securing a well-deserved podium. But the late-game heroics from Leclerc denied them a clean sweep.

With Perez’s third-place finish securing him second place in the Drivers’ Championship, Red Bull achieved a historic 1-2 in the Drivers’ Championship for the first time in their history.

The Rest of the Pack

Beyond the top three, Esteban Ocon claimed fourth for Alpine, followed by Lance Stroll for Aston Martin and Carlos Sainz for Ferrari. Lewis Hamilton showcased his resilience, recovering from a mid-race puncture to secure seventh for Mercedes.

Not every racer had a smooth ride. Yuki Tsunoda (AlphaTauri) and Nico Hulkenberg (Haas) retired from the race, while Lando Norris (McLaren) ended up in the hospital for precautionary checks after an early crash.
